Kårstein Måseide is Department Director for the research department that includes the research groups Climate system and Mitigation.
Kårstein Måseide has worked at CICERO since 2021. He has previously worked at the University of Bergen as Research Coordinator at the Centre for Climate and Energy Transformation (CET) from 2017 to 2020, at Norad – the Norwegian Agency for Development Coordination in the Section for research, innovation and higher education from 2012 to 2017, where he was Head of section / Assistant director during the final two years, and at the Research Council of Norway as Programme coordinator for Global health and vaccination research (GLOBVAC) from 2006 to 2012.
Måseide received his Civil Engineering (Siv. Ing.) degree in biophysics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and his Dr. Philos. degree from the University of Oslo. The doctoral work was based upon studies of tumour physiology conducted at the Department of Biophysics, Institute of Cancer Research at the Norwegian Radium Hospital. He continued his research in tumour physiology during a 4 year postdoc. at Ontario Cancer Institute/Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Måseide also has a MSc degree in Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
