Process research for actionable and effective climate services and solutions.
Over the past 10 years, CICERO has pioneered interdisciplinary research on process understanding for actionable climate information and effective climate communication in Norway and internationally. Hallmarks of our research are innovative partnerships with diverse stakeholders and applying interdisciplinary research expertise and holistic approaches to understanding barriers and opportunities for co-producing timely, salient, credible and actionable climate information.
Our research under the circumpolar CAVIAR II (Community Adaptation and Vulnerability in Arctic Regions) project, the Himalayan Climate Change Adaptation Programme (HICAP), and the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) Adaptation Programme in Africa (APA) supports co-production of climate information that is relevant to a wide range of decision-making contexts and applications.
CICERO is a leading provider of social science expertise in the APA programme, which aims to co-develop user-driven climate services relevant to agriculture and food security, health, and disaster risk reduction in Malawi and Tanzania. The APA represents the first multi-agency initiative under the GFCS and is a unique partnership between climate and social scientists, researchers, development and humanitarian agencies and other key user sectors.
